It has been raining biopics in mainstream Hindi cinema but here’s one that seems to be different. Ajay Devgn is set to produce a biopic on the lives of the Ramsays, the same family that has made a long list of Hindi horror films over the decades. The film is titled The Ramsay Biopic and will be written by Ritesh Shah.
The Ramsay family has seven brothers which includes Tulsi Ramsay, Shyam Ramsay, Kumar Ramsay, Keshu Ramsay, Karan Ramsay, Gangu Ramsay and Arjun Ramsay. Shyam Ramsay passed away in September this year.
They are the sons of the late producer Fatehchand U Ramsay, popularly known as FU Ramsay. He started off by producing serious films with social message, but they all flopped. Later, he tried his hand at horror with the movie Do Gaz Zameen Ke Neeche (1972).
As the film attained success, there was no looking back for the Ramsay family. Some of their popular horror films include Purana Mandir (1984), Veerana (1988), and Purani Haveli (1989). The Ramsay brothers also acquired instant success on television with Zee Horror Show which began airing in 1993.
Devgn has recently acquired the rights of the journey of the Ramsay family along with Priti Sinha, who will be co-producing the film. She has produced films like Stumped (2003), Pehchaan: The Face Of Truth (2005) and David (2013).
Sharing her excitement, Sinha said in an official statement, "The late Shri Tulsi Ramsay and Shyam Ramsay, along with every member of the Ramsay family, instilled their faith in us by giving us their biopic rights. Ajay and I are honoured and excited to depict the fascinating journey of passion, hardships and immense success of three generations of the Ramsay family who successfully set up the horror empire in India."
