NFDC picks up 5 films for Work In Progress lab

The films and the scripts will be mentored at the lab by producers Philippa Campbell and Olivia Stewart, film critic Derek Malcolm, film historian Marco Muller, and editors Jacques Comets and Lizi Gelber.

The 13th edition of Film Bazaar, organised by the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) announces the five selected projects for its Work-In-Progress Lab 2019. The selected films are in three Indian languages - Gojri, Hindi and Kannada. 

The selected projects in the Work-In-Progress Lab 2019 include Pushpendra Singh's Gojri film, Laila Aur Satt Geet (The Shepherdess And The Seven Songs), Natesh Hegde's Kannada film Pedro, and the Hindi films, Shankar's Fairies Irfana Majumdar, Swizerland by Ajitpal Singh, and Uljhan (The Knot) by Ashish Pant.

The Work-in-Progress Lab is open only for fiction features aiming for a theatrical release. A maximum of five films is selected for this Lab. The director and editor of the selected film screen their rough cuts to the panel of mentors and receive in-depth one-on-one feedback.

The lab will be mentored by a group of Emmy and Golden Globe-nominated producer Philippa Campbell, prominent film critic Derek Malcolm, creative producer of The Lunchbox (2013) Olivia Stewart, film historian Marco Muller, editors Jacques Comets and Lizi Gelber. 

Since its inception in 2008, the Work-in-Progress Lab has moulded films, which have gone on to premiere at top international film festivals and receive critical acclaim. Some of the past projects of this Lab include Miss Lovely (2012), Ship of Theseus (2013), Killa (2015), Titli (2015), Thithi (2016), Lipstick Under My Burkha (2017), Soni (2019), Moothon (2019), The Gold-Laden Sheep and The Sacred Mountain, Bombay Rose, Eeb Allay Ooo!, Aise Hee, and Nimtoh.

NFDC Film Bazaar will be held from 20 - 24 November in Goa.
