Pati Patni Aur Woh trailer: Kartik Aaryan can't decide between Bhumi Pednekar, Ananya Panday

The actor is back spewing his trademark, a monologue, in this comedy written and directed by Mudassar Aziz.

Sonal Pandya

Kartik Aaryan steps into Sanjeev Kumar's shoes for Pati Patni Aur Woh. The actor plays the happy-go-lucky husband Chintu Tyagi in this remake of the 1978 film also starring Vidya Sinha and Ranjeeta.

The Mudassar Aziz comedy features Aaryan delivering his trademark, a monologue about relationships, to Aparshakti Khurana, who plays his friend. In this new version, Tyagi is married with a job, living a humdrum existence, until Ananya Panday's glamorous Tapasya Singh arrives to shake things up.

Suddenly, the straight-laced Chintu is juggling wife and girlfriend and trying to keep them apart. He seems to dig himself deeper and deeper into a hole as he implies to Tapasya that his wife, Vedika (Bhumi Pednekar), is having an affair and later has to report her missing to the police.

Aaryan seems well cast as the goofy but cheating Chintu; he does well in the comic scenes and his on-screen rants are now second nature to him. Both love interests are way above Tyagi's station, and we don't get to know them much here.

Khurana and Aaryan, for now, have all the good lines, which include double-meaning jokes by Aziz. The trailer also gives us a preview of the recreated 'Akhiyon Se Goli Maare' from Dulhe Raja (1998) which will be included in the film.

Pati Patni Aur Woh is due to be released on 6 December. Watch the trailer below and let us know if you are keen to watch the film.
