With the trailer set to be released tomorrow, 5 November, the makers of Ashutosh Gowariker's Panipat (2019) have released the three key character posters of the film. With Sanjay Dutt, Kriti Sanon and Arjun Kapoor playing the leads, the posters capture the three major players of the third battle of Panipat.

The first character poster released by the makers featured Sanjay Dutt in full armour as the unrelenting Ahmed Shah Abdali.

With his gaze set on the horizon, Sanjay Dutt looks a little grey but determined as the ruler of the Afghan Durrani empire who laid waste to the Maratha armies at Panipat. It was Abdali's relentless strategy and pacy attack that caused a major dent in the power of the Peshwas at the deadly battle.

Apart from being a ruthless invader of India, Abdali was the founder of the Durrani empire and modern-day Afghanistan. He is still revered as the founder of the country in many ways.

This was soon followed by the poster featuring Kriti Sanon as Parvatibai. As the wife of Sadashiv Rao Bhau, Parvatibai was among the many female members of the Peshwa contingent who travelled to Panipat on the eve of the disastrous battle.

This will be the first time Sanon will play a historical character. Dressed in elaborate finery, the actress looks the part of the nominal queen of the Peshwas at the time of the epic.

The makers saved the best for the last, with Arjun Kapoor's look as Sadashivrao Bhau being the last character unveiled a day before the trailer. Kapoor plays the commander in chief of the Peshwa army, who led the assault against Ahmed Shah Abdali.

The poster captures Arjun Kapoor's Sadashiv Rao in battle gear on the field. The actor's look has been quite the news, with Kapoor shaving off his hair to get the look of the Peshwa right. However, the poster only reveals his prominent moustache in the foreground of the saffron flag of the Maratha empire.

Panipat, directed by Gowariker, is set to release in theatres on 6 December.
