India's premier film festival is celebrating its golden jubilee this year and will partner with Russia for the upcoming edition later this month.

The upcoming 50th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) just got glitzier. Union information and broadcasting minister Prakash Javadekar has announced that superstar Rajinikanth will be conferred with a special Icon of Golden Jubilee award later this month. That's not all, celebrated French actress Isabelle Huppert will be honoured with the Lifetime Achievement award.

Javadekar also said the festival will showcase 50 films by women filmmakers to celebrate the golden jubilee. IFFI is also screening around 200 foreign films, 24 of which have been selected by their countries to compete in the Best International Feature Film category. India's selection, Zoya Akhtar's Gully Boy (2019), will also be screened in the Indian Panorama section.
Russia has also been named the festival's partner country this year. The annual festival is being held in Panaji, Goa, from 20 to 28 November.
