The announcement picture captures Pednekar at the centre holding the board which says 'hero', while Akshay Kumar holds up the board of 'presenter' like Bhushan Kumar. It is not yet known if the actor will make a cameo appearance in the film alongside Pednekar.
The film will be directed by Ashok, and will be Pednekar's second attempt at the horror genre. The actress is already part of the Dharma Productions venture, Bhoot: The Haunted Ship.
Durgavati is reportedly a remake of the Telugu hit, Bhaagamathie (2018) starring Anushka Shetty. Pednekar is currently awaiting the release of Pati Patni Aur Woh, and will likely begin the schedule of Durgavati in January 2020.
