Sayali Sanjeev will next be seen playing the lead in a film titled Gosht Eka Paithanichi. The film is directed by Shantanu Ganesh Rode and produced under the banners of Planet Marathi and Golden Ratio Films.
For the unintiated, Paithani is a type of sari originating from the town of Paithan in the district of Aurangabad, Maharashtra. The silk sari, woven by hand, is considered one of the most expensive in India. The makers have shared the first poster of the film in which Sayali looks beautiful in a Paithani sari.
Speaking about the film, Akshay Bardapurkar, founder of Planet Marathi, said, “After AB Aani CD (2019), we wanted to bring a film that is rooted in Maharashtra. Our aim was fulfilled by Gosht Eka Paithanichi. We decided to produce the film after knowing this incredible story and Shantanu Ganesh Rode’s determination.”
Planet Marathi is a digital platform for Marathi content that was founded in 2017. AB Aani CD, starring Vikram Gokhale, Amitabh Bachchan, Subodh Bhave and Sayali, was their first film project. The film is directed by Milind Lele.
While sharing the reason for casting Sayali in the lead role, Bardapurkar said, “Instead of thinking about other actors, we thought of taking the face of Planet Marathi, Sayali Sanjeev on board and bring her in a new look and character in front of the audience. We are sure the audience will shower a lot of love on our film.”
Gosht Eka Paithanichi went on floors yesterday, 24 November. The film will be shot at Bhor, Mumbai, Pune and the Konkan region.
