Kangana Ranaut’s latest film announcement is sure to make heads turn. The actress will be rolling out a film on the controversial Ayodhya Ram temple and the ensuing legal battle on its origins titled Aparajitha Ayodhya. This is her first film as a producer under her banner Manikarnika Films.
The film is written by K Vijayendra Prasad, the man who wrote son SS Rajamouli’s global blockbusters Baahubali: The Beginning (2015) and Baahubali: The Conclusion (2017). He had also written Ranaut’s last movie Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi (2019), which released earlier this year.
In an official statement, Ranaut shared the importance of the topic. “The Ram temple has been a burning topic for hundreds of years. As a child born in the 1980s, I have grown up hearing the name Ayodhya in a negative light because the piece of land on which was born a king, who was the epitome of sacrifices, became the subject of a property dispute,” she said.
The legal and political battle around the Ram temple issue went on for years. The spot where the Babri mosque stood was demolished by right wing goons in 1992 as they believed it to be the place where lord Rama took birth. This was followed by a legal case. Recently, the Supreme Court of India passed a judgement on 9 November in which it handed over the land where the Babri mosque stood to a trust to construct a Ram temple while giving five-acre alternate space to build a mosque.
Speaking about the case, Ranaut added, “The case has changed the face of Indian politics and the verdict has ended the centuries-old dispute while embodying the secular spirit of India.”
The director of Aparajitha Ayodhya is not revealed yet. Ranaut’s sister and manager Rangoli Chandel has said on Twitter that the name of the director will be revealed later. “Very soon Kangana will have a grand launch of Aparajitha Ayodhya where they will announce the director and the cast #workinprogress #newbeginnings,” said Chandel.

Ranaut also threw some light on the subject of her movie. “What makes Aparajitha Ayodhya different is that it is the journey of the protagonist from a non-believer to a believer. And since, in a way, it reflects my personal journey, I decided it would be the apt subject for my first production,” she added.
