Hotel Mumbai song ‘Bharat Salaam’: Moving tribute by Mithoon to the martyrs of the 26/11 attacks

The ballad sung by B Praak and Sunidhi Chauhan with appropriate solemnity and passion.

Sonal Pandya

Like 'Humein Bharat Kehte Hain', the moving ballad ‘Bharat Salaam’ from Hotel Mumbai (2019) seeks to honour those who risked their lives and even perished in the 26/11 attacks in 2008 targeting select locations in the city which included the famed Taj hotel.

Composer Mithoon has penned a solemn tribute which pays tribute to the ordinary heroes, the hotel staff, including waiters and chefs, to the city police, who attempted to free the trapped guests and staff from the terrorists.

Singers B Praak and Sunidhi Chauhan are sincere in their rendition to add to the solemnity and shed a light to those who rose above occasion during that fraught period.

The video incorporates the real-life counterparts with the movie’s fictional elements, reminding us that this reel recreation will still not show us the complete horror of the actual events that took place in those terrible days.

Hotel Mumbai, starring Dev Patel, Armie Hammer, and Jason Isaacs, is due to be released on 29 November, on the 11th anniversary of the attacks. Watch the song below and let us know if you would be keen to watch the film.
