Good Newwz is based on a true incident, reveals Akshay Kumar

The trailer of Good Newwz, starring Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Diljit Dosanjh and Kiara Advani, which was released today, indicates that the Raj Mehta film is a situational comedy of errors.

The film is about how a semen sample given by Akshay Kumar’s character gets transferred to someone else’s wife (Advani) while the sample of her husband (Dosanjh) gets transferred to the former's wife (Kapoor Khan) because both couples share the surname Batra.

While Good Newwz is a laugh riot, Akshay Kumar surprised everyone by revealing at the trailer launch that the film is based on a real-life incident.

“To tell you the truth, such an incident has happened in real life with someone,” said the actor. But the makers added drama and comedy to it. “We took inspiration from that incident and made this film.” 

Akshay Kumar also revealed that Karan Johar, the producer, had actually narrated another story to him. “He gave me an hour-and-a-half narration [of another story]. I said this is a very good story. Then I asked what else he was making. He said he also has a small film called Good Newwz and narrated the story for about two minutes. I said, let’s forget the earlier story and make this one!” said the actor. 

Good Newwz will be Akshay Kumar’s second successive comedy film after Housefull 4, which was this year’s Diwali release. Good Newws is slated for release on 27 December, the Christmas-New Year week.
