Actress Paoli Dam will be working with filmmaker Pratim D Gupta for the fourth consecutive time. After the feature films Machher Jhol (2017), Ahare Mon (2018), and Shantilal O Projapoti Rohoshyo (2019), and the TV film, Mirchi Malini (2018), the actress will be seen in Gupta’s upcoming directorial venture, Love Aaj Kal Porshu (2020), featuring Arjun Chakraborty and Madhumita Sarkar in the leads.
A young couple’s love story, that attempts to explore the eternal charm of love, Love Aaj Kal Porshu will feature Dam as the prominent character of Kalki.
In an interview with the newspaper Eisamay, a supplementary of The Times of India, Gupta said, “Kalki could have been a male character. I would have approached Bumba da (Prosenjit Chatterjee) for the role then. However, my producer encouraged me to think beyond the conventions and then I thought of turning it into a female character.”
Gupta also added that he trusts Dam immensely for her acting capabilities, “I feel she can do justice to the character. I also don’t think that working with an actress repeatedly brings monotony in work. Rather, a director should always cast according to the characters’ demands, irrespective of the number of projects they have done together.”
Dam, on the other hand, said, “Pratim told me that no one can do better justice to the character than me. Such kind of an approach always increases my responsibility towards a character. Whenever Pratim writes a character for me, I feel I have a lot to give to it.”
Love Aaj Kal Porshu will mark the debut of Sarkar, who has been mostly featured in television series. The film will go on the floors from 17 November.
