Salman Khan was never a gifted dancer, and the latest video for the title track of Prabhu Deva's upcoming Dabangg 3 does not paint a pretty picture of the actor's moves.
While the 53-year-old actor still possesses the swagger and style required of a superstar, the dance moves are at best questionable. The song, composed by Sajid-Wajid, has been sung by Shabab Sabri, Divya Kumar and Sajid.
The song is a hero-entry for the actor, who carries the Dabangg series anyway. Naturally, it is filled with stylized shots with the Tricolour in the background, swirling crowds that part as he walks through, and explosions. There is even a moment when he parodies the overdone superpowers of a commercial hero. But it is in the choreography that the flaws truly stand out.
The actor looks wooden and stiff in his movements. Considering the fact that the film is directed by Prabhu Deva, who is known for his fantastic dance moves, it is even more awkward.
The song is quite similar to the original title track, and follows the same rhythm. The variation lies in the structure. The song begins from the antara or second stanza, with new lyrics by Danish Sabri. Even when the song returns to the original rhythm, it stays away from the funky beats and takes on a more serious style of percussion.
Directed by Prabhu Deva, the film is set to be released on 20 December.
