Yoodlee Films’ next production, KD, directed by Madhumita Sundararaman, is due to be released in theatres on 22 November. The Tamil film has been winning accolades of the festival circuit for a while now.
Child artiste Nagavishal picked up the Best Actor award at the 10th Jagran Film Festival while the film got the Jury award at the Singapore South Asian Film Festival this September.
Written by Madhumita, the film tells the heartwarming story of an 80-year-old man, Karuppudurai aka KD, who befriends eight-year-old Kutty and goes on a life-changing road trip with him to complete his bucket list.
In a statement, Madhumita said of her film's theatrical release, "It’s a story that works on multiple levels, focusing on a friendship between the most disparate of individuals who come together through a sense of love and loss. This film is made with a lot of soul and I can’t wait for it to be sampled by our theatrical audiences after its successful festival run. I would like to thank everyone for being with me on this journey."
Producer Siddharth Anand Kumar added, "KD is Yoodlee Films’ firm foray into regional cinema, enabling filmmakers with a unique and distinct voice to bring their stories to the forefront. Madhumita has made a film that is delicately crafted — an astutely observed tale of love and life, seen through its two main protagonists. It’s funny, it’s simple, it’s heartwarming, it’s relevant — it’s what good cinema should be."
