After the success of Lapachhapi (2017), director Vishal Furia’s next will also tackle the horror genre. The film is titled Bali – The Victim and has popular actor Swapnil Joshi as the lead character. It’s produced under Arjun Singgh Baran and Kartik D Nishandar’s banner GSEAMS (Global Sports Entertainment and Media Solutions Private Limited).
Speaking about the film, Furia said in an official statement, "Lapachhapi was well received by the Marathi audience proving that they love the horror genre. Appreciating [that], I really want to continue making horror films for the Marathi audience. With a star like Swapnil, who has been loved by the audience, on board and maverick producers Arjun and Kartik backing my second horror film, I promise to make it bigger and scarier than Lapachhapi."
The makers have released the title poster of the film. It has a cross sign in red colour, which adds a scary element. The film is set to release in 2020.
Joshi is excited to star in a horror film. "I had promised audience of the Marathi film [that I would] explore new genre this year. This film is a small step taken by me in that direction. I am very happy to get into the horror space. I am more happy that I have got an opportunity to do it with my favorite people like Kartik, Arjun and favorite director in this field, Vishal. I am sure that we together could ‘scare’ the people and make them enjoy it," he stated in an official release.
GSEAMS also has another film in the pipeline in the form of Sonalee Kulkarni-starrer Vicky Velingkar (2019). The banner has previously collaborated with Joshi for films like Fugay (2017), Bhikari (2017) and Mogra Phulaalaa (2019). Another film under their banner, Tula Kalnnaar Nahi (2017) starred Subodh Bhave and Sonalee Kulkarni and was co-produced by Joshi.
Following Lapachhapi, Furia directed two web-series, Criminal Justice (2019) and Bombers (2019).
