Bala song 'Pyaar Toh Tha': Truth emerges in this eternal promise of love by Jubin Nautiyal

While the film might have missed out on it, the songs from Ayushmann Khurrana-starrer Bala (2019) have certainly stolen a march over its rivals. The latest one 'Pyaar Toh Tha' captures the heartbreak and sorrow behind the fun, frolic and entertainment of Bala. Sung by Jubin Nautiyal and Asees Kaur, the song is composed by Sachin-Jigar with lyrics by Priya Saraiya.
The song also reveals a key plot point of the film, perhaps purposely. Set right after the wedding between Bala (Ayushmann Khurrana) and Pari (Yami Gautam), it opens the secret of Bala's wig. As Pari discovers the truth behind Bala's true appearance, she decides to leave him. Broke, distraught, Bala tries repeatedly to win her back. Whether he does, or comes to term with his own reality remains hidden.
The song by Sachin-Jigar is a wonderful composition and builds slowly to good effect. Starting on the base of a guitar rhythm, the song is easy and almost feels like a karaoke tune. That suits the mood of the situation, as it makes the composition more heartfelt. The use of few orchestration arrangements, including the viola, make for an interesting match.
While the song begins with Asees Kaur leading with her husky vocals, the song slowly becomes a Jubin Nautiyal solo. The singer does a good job with it, and is convincing as the voice of Bala's heart. The lyrics by Priya Saraiya are good, and fall in step with the beats of the Sachin-Jigar composition.
Bala is set to release on 7 November. Watch the song below, and let us know if you will be keen on watching the film.
