Bharat song 'Aithey Aa': Katrina Kaif takes control at this fun wedding number with Salman Khan

Composed by Vishal-Shekhar, the song features the voices of Neeti Mohan, Akasa Singh and Kamaal Khan, along with the two composers.

The year 1983 might be when India created history by winning the cricket World Cup for the first time, which is the subject of Ranveer Singh's upcoming film '83 (2020), but it is also the year romance comes to the fore in Ali Abbas Zafar's Bharat (2019).

'Aithey Aa' is the latest wedding dance number from Zafar's film that sees Katrina Kaif take the lead as she serenades Salman Khan's Bharat in the film.

Composed by Vishal-Shekhar, the song features the voices of the composers alongside Neeti Mohan, Akasa Singh and Kamaal Khan.

With the 1980s vibe going for it, the song is picturized at a family wedding with both Khan's Bharat and Kaif's character, nicknamed 'Madam Sir', enjoying life outside the office.

While the Bharat trailer showed Kaif's character as a no-nonsense officer, the song captures the lighter side of her personality. Playing the proactive one in this romance, she serenades Khan's Bharat through the song.

The composition is funky and has an upbeat harmony going for it. The use of the shehnai as the signature is a fantastic idea. Neeti Mohan's vocals are perfect for Irshad Kamil's wacky lyrics that combine English, Punjabi and Hindi words. Kamil's use of these languages is both innovative and impressive in its simplicity and immediacy.

Neeti takes the lead in the song, like Kaif's character, and offers vibrancy and style that matches the mixing of the composition. The staccato beat and rhythm of the composition add a new spin to the traditional wedding song making it a popular addition.

While Kaif manages the choreography well, it is Salman Khan who seems to be struggling with the moves designed by Vaibhavi Merchant. The actor feels a little too rigid, perhaps it is the character, and his moves feel too plastic at times.

Bharat, directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, is set to be released in theatres on 5 June 2019. Watch the song below:
