After the success of Shubh Mangal Saavdhan (2017), producer Aanand L Rai and actor Ayushmann Khurrana will be reuniting for a sequel. The film will be the directorial debut of Hitesh Kewalya, writer of Shubh Mangal Saavdhan. Interestingly, this one will revolve around the topic of homosexuality.
The news was shared by veteran film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh on Twitter. “It's official... Ayushmann Khurrana and producer Aanand L Rai reunite,” he announced.

At the start of the year, the Sonam Kapoor-starrer Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga (2019) subtly introduced a family film featuring a lesbian relationship.
With the sequel of Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, mainstream Hindi cinema may finally be opening up to such subjects. The subject was earlier restricted to unconventional or festival cinema.

Ayushmann Khurrana shared a humorous and cute animation video on his official Twitter page to announce the movie. It puts forth the situation of gay lovers in a humorous way. He has also mentioned in his tweet that the film will be release in the Valentine's Day week next year.
Shubh Mangal Saavdhan featured a love story between Khurrana and Bhumi Pednekar’s characters. The film also dealt with an unusual topic like erectile dysfunction.
The romantic comedy was the official remake of the Tamil movie Kalyana Samayal Saadham (2013) directed by RS Prasanna, who helmed the Hindi version as well.
