The Richa Chadha and Akshaye Khanna courtroom drama, Section 375: Marzi Ya Jabardasti (2019), is set to release on 2 August. The makers confirmed the release date, as well as the new director, Ajay Bahl.

The film will be based on the drama around a case of rape, with Chadha and Khanna playing opposing lawyers. Akshaye Khanna plays a best-in-the-business defense lawyer to a film director played by Rahul Bhatt who is accused of rape. Richa Chadha plays a tough nut public prosecutor arguing for the victim played by Meera Chopra.

Initially slated to be directed by Manish Gupta, the film is now being helmed by Ajay Bahl. Bahl had directed BA Pass (2013).

Back in April, Gupta had spoken to daily tabloid, Mumbai Mirror, saying, "In recent times, there have been a number of cases where it’s ambiguous whether it was rape or consensual sex. The law can be misused by both men and women alike. This film is about how a law against rape made to protect women can also be misused by them."

The film will be produced by Bhushan Kumar, Kishan Kumar, Kumar Mangat Pathak, and Abhishek Pathak, and co-produced by Aditya Choksi and Sanjeev Joshi.
