Box office: Avengers Endgame holds up well on second Monday as well

The Marvel multi-starrer bagged Rs7.75 crore nett on its second Monday in the theatres, closing in on total India business of Rs350 crore nett. Sunny Deol’s Blank drew just Rs40 lakh nett on its first Monday.

After becoming the first Hollywood film to cross the Rs300 crore nett box-office collection mark in India, Marvel film Avengers: Endgame (2019) is on course to set newer records.

The Hollywood multi-starrer did well on its second Monday, bagging Rs7.75 crore nett, as reported by BoxOfficeIndia.com. The film has so far collected Rs317.7 crore nett in India.

Distributed by Disney, Avengers: Endgame was been released on 2,850 screens across India in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. While the Indian blockbuster Baahubali: The Conclusion (2017) is still a long way off at Rs1,100 crore nett India business, Avengers is on course to surpass some of the big Hindi hits of recent times.

The Hindi dubbed version of Baahubali: The Conclusion itself had amassed Rs510.36 crore nett in India. But the record for highest nett earning Hindi film is currently held by Aamir Khan’s Dangal (2016), which made Rs374.53 crore at the box office.

Avengers: Endgame has already surpassed two Salman Khan films, Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015) and Sultan (2016), which had made Rs315.49 crore nett and Rs300.67 crore nett, respectively, in India. Endgame also looks good to beat the likes of Sanju (2018), which had made Rs334.57 crore nett in domestic business, Aamir Khan's PK (2014), which stands at Rs337.72 crore nett, and Salman’s Khan Tiger Zinda Hai (2017), which currently holds the second spot with Rs339 crore nett.

Meanwhile, Sunny Deol’s Blank seems to be drawing a blank at the box office. The film made just Rs45 lakh nett on its first Monday in the theatres. The film's business hasn't dropped much, given that it opened to just Rs55 lakh nett on Friday. But after the terrible opening, the action thriller has so far made just Rs2.65 crore nett at the domestic box office and looks doomed.

Come Friday, Avengers: Endgame is likely to face some competition with Dharma Productions’ Student Of The Year 2, targeted at the teenybopper crowd, which constitutes a major chunk of the Avengers fan club, set to be released.
