The trailer of Dhrubo Banerjee’s upcoming film Durgeshgorer Guptodhon was released on 5 May. Durgeshgorer Guptodhon is the second instalment of the treasure hunt franchise by Banerjee that started off with Guptodhoner Sondhane last year.
In the treasure hunt saga, History professor Subarna Sen a.k.a Sona Da unravels the mystery with the aid of his cousin Abir and his girlfriend Jhinuk. Abir Chatterjee will reprise the character of Sona Da, while Arjun Chakraborty and Ishaa Saha will be seen as Abir and Jhinuk in the film.
The trailer hints at a storyline filled with twists. Sona Da senses adventure and informs Abir and Jhinuk to prepare for it. He wastes no time and soon lands at the ancestral place of one of his students — a palace from the 18th century. Sona Da’s voice in the background narrates that once the palace used to have one of the richest treasuries of the world, which doesn’t make sense.
It is said in the beginning that Sona Da arrives at the place on a summer vacation; however, soon the adventure is seen to be taking place during the Durga Puja. Whether, their adventure takes months or not can only be found out when the film is out.
While the trio enjoy the Puja in its truest sense, a lot of suspicious activities begin to take place around the palace simultaneously. While discussing about the hidden treasure, Sona Da hints at the presence of an enormous amount of gold from the past stored in the palace.
However, it doesn’t take long for the villain (Kaushik Sen) to make an appearance as he leaves no stone unturned to create hurdles in the path of digging out the treasure. As rightly hinted in the motion poster, Durgeshgorer Guptodhon has a lot of underwater adventure in store. Sona Da, Abir and Jhinuk find clues and face challenges and dangers, but do not give up.
The trailer ends with Sona Da saying, “Lock and Key game is now on in full swing,” as Jhinuk freezes in fear hearing the roar of a tiger in the background.
The trailer also suggests that Durgeshgorer Guptodhon has more elements to offer than its previous instalment, which had a rather linear narrative. It seems that the trio stumble upon and are deceived by the clues they lay their hands on repeatedly until they combat all of their enemies and discover the treasure.
The film also features Kharaj Mukherjee and Arindma Sil in important roles.
Durgeshgorer Guptodhon is slated for release on 24 May.
