Box office: Avengers: Endgame crosses Rs300 crore nett; Blank, Setters fall apart

Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame (2019) continued to draw in huge numbers in its second weekend. After bagging a smashing Rs159.50 crore in its opening, weekend, the multiple superhero film enjoyed a good second weekend, collecting Rs51.25 crore nett. This helped Avengers: Endgame become the first Hollywood film to make Rs300 crore nett in India. Avengers: Endgame has so far collected Rs311 crore nett in its India business.
Distributed by Walt Disney Inc. in India, Avengers: Endgame was released on 2,850 screens in India. The film is a worldwide success, having grossed over $2 billion worldwide.
Hindi releases Blank and Setters had a disappointing opening weekend. Released on 1,255 screens, Blank could only make Rs2.25 crore nett in its opening weekend. The film is the debut of Karan Kapadia, son of late costume designer Simple Kapadia and nephew of actress Dimple Kapadia.

Setters, starring Aftab Shivdasani, Shreyas Talpade and Ishita Dutta, had a poor opening weekend as it collected Rs50 lakh nett.
Setters review: Passes the exam, but only with a second class
Holdover release The Tashkent Files (2019) held its own, making Rs1.75 crore nett in its fourth weekend. The film, directed by Vivek Agnihotri, has so far made Rs13.16 crore nett in domestic business. The film is made at a budget of Rs12.5 crore.
On 10 May, Dharma Productions’ Student Of The Year 2 will hit the screens, giving moviegoers an option to Avengers: Endgame.
