Ajith Kumar’s Tamil blockbuster Viswasam, which hit the screens earlier this year during the Pongal festival, is all set to be remade in Kannada.
If everything goes as planned, actor Shiva Rajkumar is mostly likely star in the remake as he has already initiated talks with the original producers.
According to a report by film website Silverscreen.in, the remake is most likely to go on the floors from November.
“Talks are on and I will be confirming it in two to three days. I’ve spoken to the producers and it is very likely to be finalised. Shoot may begin in November or December this year. I liked Ajith’s performance in Viswasam. There’s a lovely sentiment and it’s an emotional family drama. The Kannada audience will definitely enjoy the film,” Shiva Rajkumar said.
The rest of the cast and crew, according to a source close to Shiva Rajkumar, will be finalised as soon as the official announcement is made.
Shiva Rajkumar currently awaits the release of Kannada action-drama Rustum, starring Shraddha Srinath and Vivek Oberoi. He also has films such as SRK, Drona and Anand in the pipeline.
Interestingly, Viswasam was dubbed and released in Kannada as Jaga Malla last month. The film was not received well unlike Ajith’s previous releases like Vivegam (2017).
Directed by Siva, Viswasam marked the first-time union of Ajith and Nayanthara. The film went on to perform extremely well at the box office and grossed over Rs100 crore in Tamil Nadu alone.
Ajith currently awaits the release of Nerkonda Paarvai (2019), the Tamil remake of Pink (2016). The film marks the foray of Boney Kapoor into southern filmdom.
