Rajinikanth's Darbar (2020) shooting in Mumbai ground to a halt after students pelted the film crew with stones. Reports suggest that the students were angered after the crew set up barricades to prevent any pictures or reports from the set to leak out in the public. The matter has been taken by director AR Murugadoss to the higher authorities of the college, and the shoot is likely to move to a different location.
The film, which also features Nayanthara, will see Rajinikanth portray a police officer 20 years after he last played such a role in Pandian (1992). The film is also the third film together for the two leading actors after Chandramukhi (2005) and Kuselan (2008).
An investigative thriller, Darbar, was being shot in Mumbai with both Rajinikanth and Nayanthara in the city last week. However, the crew ran into trouble with the students of a college when the makers refused them access to the sets. This resulted in the students pelting the crew with stones from the terrace of the college. While there were no injuries reported, the film crew has decided to shift their location.
Darbar is set for release on Pongal 2020, and will also see Prateik Babbar in a key role in the film.
