PM Narendra Modi to finally hit theatres on 24 May

The film was supposed to be released in April, but the Election Commission of India did not allow it as it would have violated the model code of conduct in force for the ongoing general election.

After a lot of drama and uncertainty, Omung Kumar B's PM Narendra Modi (2019) will finally be released on 24 May. The news was shared by the film's producer Sandeep Ssingh in an official statement.

The film was earlier supposed to be released in April, but the Election Commission of India (EC) did not allow it as the commission felt the film violated the model code of conduct in force for the ongoing general election.

The makers then approached the Supreme Court against the decision of the Election Commission. The court asked the commission to watch the film fully and decide, following which the commission decided to keep the ban on the film till the voting process gets over on 19 May.

Sandeep Ssingh said, “As responsible citizens we respect the law of the country. After a lot of discussions and keeping the curiosity and excitement about the film in mind, we have decided to release the film immediately after the Lok Sabha election results. We are now releasing our film on 24 May 2019."

The makers will have only four days to promote the film. As per the order of the Election Commission, they can't carry out promotions till the elections get over. The film's trailer and songs were also removed from YouTube in order to adhere to the model code of conduct.

"This is the first time a film will be promoted for only four days. I hope now nobody has any problem with the film and we are hoping for the smooth release this time," said Sandeep Ssingh.

PM Narendra Modi stars Vivek Anand Oberoi in the role of India's current prime minister Narendra Modi. Manoj Joshi plays BJP chief Amit Shah.
