Diljit Dosanjh and Yami Gautam have been cast together for the first time in an upcoming comedy film, which is yet untitled.
The film will be the directorial debut of veteran filmmaker Aziz Mirza’s son Haroon A Mirza (not to be confused with the British artiste of the same name). The film will be produced by Ramesh Taurani for his banner Tips.
The script has been co-written by Vibha Singh, Arshad Sayed and the late actor-filmmaker Neeraj Vora. This is among the last scripts Vora worked on.
Yami Gautam is currently riding on the super success of her action film Uri: The Surgical Strike (2019). The film, starring Vicky Kaushal, turned out to be a surprise blockbuster. The actress played a secret agent in the film.
She is currently shooting for director Amar Kaushik’s Bala (2019), which also stars Ayushmann Khurrana and Bhumi Pednekar.
Dosanjh’s previous Hindi film was Shaad Ali’s Soorma (2018) in which he played former Indian hockey star Sandeep Singh. His upcoming Punjabi film Shadaa (2019) will be released on 21 June.
The lead pair will start shooting for the film later this year. The release date of the film has not been decided.
Haroon assisted his father Aziz Mirza on some of his films like Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman (1992), Yes Boss (1997), Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani (2000) and Chalte Chalte (2003). He has also assisted Amol Palekar on his film Paheli (2005).
