The teaser of Sagardwipey Jawker Dhan promises a roller coaster treasure hunt story in the sea. Featuring Parambrata Chatterjee, Koel Mallick, Gaurav Chakraborty in the lead, the film is the second instalment of Sayantan Ghosal’s Jawker Dhan series, inspired from Hemendra Kumar Roy’s story with the same title.
In the teaser, three riddles are narrated in the background by the three protagonists that serve as the clue to the Jawker Dhan or the hidden treasure. There are ample visuals of the three making their ways to obscure places, sailing through tumultuous seas, getting together clues between the pages of precious books and laying hands on objects that appear mysterious.
Chatterjee is also seen to be getting into fighting sequences and it suggests that like every treasure hunt story, this one too has rivals who also want to lay their hands on the treasure.
However, the special effects are unrealistic and don't match. In fact, they stick out like a sore thumb. The visuals in which Mallick is seen to be hanging over melting lava, or the island exploding with monstrous waves in the background, are overly simplistic for a feature film.
At the same time, the teaser has grand written all over it and suggests that Ghosal has conceived a journey involving the trio worth the ride, with twists and thrill under water, which is kind of first of its own.
Ghosal’s Jawker Dhan (2017) and Alinangarer Golokdhanda (2018) were appreciated for the treatment of mystery and adventure. The teaser of Sagardwipey Jawker Dhan hardly gives away any info regarding the plot. The audience will have to wait for the trailer to be released to have a better sense of the expedition.
