Actress Dimple Kapadia has joined the ensemble cast of Christopher Nolan's next film titled Tenet (2020). The film is due to be released on 17 July 2020. The news was confirmed by Deadline.com.
Kapadia was named along with actors Michael Caine (a Nolan regular), Kenneth Branagh, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and actress Clémence Poésy as part of the cast. According to the studio, Warner Bros, shooting has already commenced on the action film which is said to revolve around the world of international espionage. The film will shoot in seven countries and it is not known what role Kapadia will play in the Hollywood production.
She joins stars Robert Pattinson, John David Washington (son of actor Denzel Washington), and Elizabeth Debicki, who were previously named in the film's cast. Nolan, an Academy Award-nominee for Memento (2000), Inception (2010) and Dunkirk (2017), has written the screenplay for the film. He will co-produce Tenet with his wife, Emma Thomas.
The filmmaker visited India last year to speak the importance of film preservation in the digital age for the Film Heritage Foundation and also had a roundtable discussion with Indian filmmakers and exhibitors about the issue.
Kapadia made her big screen debut in Raj Kapoor's Bobby (1973) winning a Filmfare Award for Best Actress at 16. The National Award-winner for Rudaali (1993), she was last seen in Hindi cinema with Anees Bazmee's Welcome Back (2015). She also has a role in Ayan Mukerji's Brahmastra (2020) with Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Amitabh Bachchan, and Nagarjuna.
