Sonal Pandya
A prominent doctor, Mira Anand (Tisca Chopra), has her family taken hostage on the eve of an important operation. It turns out that her patient is the chief minister and some masked intruders want Dr Anand to terminate his life, not save it.
This latest web-series to join the digital space features Chopra as the conflicted medical professional who faces a difficult decision — whether to save her family or stay true to the Hippocratic oath.
Chopra is joined in the series by Parvin Dabas, who plays her husband, and Ronit Roy, a police officer investigating threats to the chief minister's life.
Veteran actor Dalip Tahil is the unfortunate chief minister whose life hangs by a thread in the hands of Dr Mira Anand. Filmmaker Sudhir Mishra has directed the episodes and the show will be streamed online on Hotstar on 31 May.
Hostages is adapted from the Israeli series of the same name, also known as Bnei Aruba, which ran for two series in its home country. In 2014, an American version starring Toni Collette and Dylan McDermott was aired on the CBS television network.
