The poster of Birsa Dasgupta’s upcoming film Bibaho Obhijaan was launched yesterday online. The comedy venture, that can be translated into A Wedding Saga, has an interesting starcast with Ankush Hazra, Rudranil Ghosh and Anirban Bhattacharya as the male protagonists; Priyanka Sarkar, Sohini Sarkar and Bangladeshi actress Nusrat Faria featuring as the female leads.

While Ghosh has acted in various comedy flicks and is known for his exceptional comic timing, Bhattachrya will be seen making a shift in the genre of his films for the first time with Bibaho Obhijaan.

In the poster, the female leads are seen in different avatars but Hazra, Ghosh and Bhattacharya all are seen in the avatars of bandits in similar attires. Priyanka is featuring on the poster as a simple village girl, Sohini can be seen as a stereotypical housewife dedicated in performing the rituals of Puja and Faria’s character is in complete contrast with the other two.

While the appearances in the poster suggest that the film has three archetypal female characters, it is the male characters that generate the intrigue. It could be possible that Priyanka, Sohini and Faria represent certain core feminine attributes despite having different backgrounds and the male protagonists seem to fall into the same block.

The film seems to be about weddings, but the poster suggests an equation of conflicts and confrontations between the male and female characters.

Bibaho Obhijaan, with music by Jeet Gannguli, is due to be released on 21 June.
