Girlfriend poster: Sai Tamhankar is revealed as Amey Wagh’s girlfriend

After building up anticipation about his co-star, actor Amey Wagh has finally revealed who his girlfriend is in the upcoming Marathi movie Girlfriend (2019).

Star Sai Tamhankar was finally announced today as the female lead in the film. 

Amey Wagh shared the news through the latest poster of the film. In the earlier poster, the image of the girlfriend was blank.

Tamhankar will be playing the character of Alisha while Wagh plays Nachiket Pradhan.

Wagh has been asking others online about the identity of his girlfriend in the film. Yesterday, a number of actresses from the Marathi film industry, including Spruha Joshi, Sonalee Kulkarni, Shreya Bugde and Priya Bapat, playfully asked him on social media, "Did you find a girlfriend?"

As a red herring, Tamhankar herself took part in the promotion. Other actresses who took part in the activity were Parna Pethe, Amruta Khanvilkar, Mithila Palkar and Rasika Sunil. But the surprise names in the list were Hindi film actresses Zarine Khan and Poonam Dhillon.

The teaser of Girlfriend, released last week, shed some light on Wagh's character, a geek who is frustrated at not having had a girlfriend in his life. The film looks at the social pressure young men face to begin dating and have a girlfriend. 

Directed by Upendra Sidhaye, Girlfriend is due to be released on 26 July.
