With the general elections done and the results awaited, the makers of PM Narendra Modi (2019) are free to engage in promotion of the film. A new poster of the film was launched today which features Vivek Oberoi as prime minister Narendra Modi.
The actor tagged the poster with the statement, 'In India, every big task is begun by blowing the conch.'
The poster features the actor as the prime minister blowing a conch while an orange background looms. Interestingly, the poster's taglines, 'Aa rahe hain dobaara [He is coming again]' and 'Ab koi rok nahi sakta [No one can stop him now]' seem to refer to the exit-poll predictions that the Modi-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is the frontrunner for a second term in power.
The film, a biopic of the prime minister, was initially scheduled to be released on 11 April, a day before the first phase of voting in the seven-phase general election.
However, the Election Commission stayed the film, suggesting that it violates the model code of conduct in place for the elections.
After the producers moved the Supreme Court, the commission watched the film and stood by its decision to block its release while the elections were on.
This led to the film's release date being pushed to 24 May, a day after the results are scheduled to be declared by the commission.
Directed by Omung Kumar B, the film features Vivek Oberoi as prime minister Narendra Modi, alongside Manoj Joshi and Boman Irani, among others.
