Saif Ali Khan-starrer Hunter renamed Laal Kaptaan: See poster

Saif Ali Khan's turn as a vengeful sadhu now has a new name. The film will be titled Laal Kaptaan and is scheduled for release on 6 September this year.

Directed by Navdeep Singh, the film will see Saif Ali Khan featured with Zoya Hussain, Manav Vij and Neeraj Kabi. 

The makers released the first-look poster of the film along with the release date announcement. While it does not feature the entire look of Saif Ali Khan, it captures the eerie eyes of his vengeful sadhu. 

The film is set in the 18th century with Saif Ali Khan playing a naga sadhu out for revenge against a British captain. This explains the title, Laal Kaptaan (Red Captain). In a couple of pictures taken on the sets earlier last year, Khan was spotted wearing dreadlocks and a red British army officer's jacket.

The other interesting part of the poster is the sight of a man being dragged across the floor, which appears in the top half. Whether that is Khan's character before his transformation or someone else is unknown. 

Khan is also starring in another period drama, Taanaji: The Unsung Warrior, opposite Ajay Devgn. That film is set to be released on 10 January 2020.

Laal Kaptaan is Navdeep Singh's third feature film after Manorama Six Feet Under (2007) and NH10 (2015).

Laal Kaptaan, produced by Aanand L Rai's Colour Yellow Productions and Eros International, is due to be released on 6 September 2019.
