'Chale Aana' song: Amaal Mallik's composition is the heart of Ajay-Rakul's breakup

Composed by Amaal Mallik, the song is sung by his brother, Armaan.

With a romantic triangle, there is always a certainty of someone losing out. With De De Pyaar De's latest song, the makers might just have revealed one part of the inevitable romance of Ajay Devgn and Rakul Preet Singh's characters.

Composed by Amaal Mallik, the song, 'Chale Aana', builds around the emotional aftermath of the breakup between Devgn and Singh's characters in the film.

The trailer and promotions have been built around the age-difference between the two characters. As Devgn's advice of moving on from one another sets up the song, it is easy to predict the nature of the melody. While the two cope in the aftermath, it is Mallik's composition that gives voice to their emotions.

Sung by Armaan Mallik, the song is a soulful, pleasant melody that builds on its emotional base. The composition is simple, even familiar in its use of the elements of violins, rhythmic percussion that controls the vocal tempo. The song has a steady movement between the strings and the percussion instruments that brings out a nice harmony. It is the voice of Armaan that offers more than the template on hand. Soothing, and even cajoling at times, the singer manages to bring the impact of Kunaal Vermaa's lyrics to the fore.

De De Pyaar De is directed by Akiv Ali, and will be out in theatres on 17 May.
