Bharat song 'Chashni': Salman romances Katrina in this sweet romantic track

After the 1960s, the newest song from Bharat (2019) moves to the 1970s, where Salman Khan's Bharat finds the love of his life, with Katrina Kaif's character, whom he refers to as 'Madam Sir'.
Khan has a brief voiceover in the beginning and he informs us that he's a bit old-school, not like the superstar Rajesh Khanna who was ruling the decade, but rather like the actor Dilip Kumar who found his wife Saira Banu, a bit later on in life.
The romantic number, written by Irshad Kamil and composed by Vishal-Shekhar, is lovely and restrained. It takes us through the romance of the lead couple as they work and fall in love besides each other far from home in the Middle East. It's a relief to hear a melody in a romantic song that doesn't hammer away with the lyrics.
Abhijeet Srivastava, a relatively newer voice in Hindi film music, lends a nice sweetness and softness to the track. However, in the second half, when Khan lip syncs to the song in the sand dunes, Srivastava's voice does not match Khan. In fact, Khan seems to be slightly behind the beat of the song.
Kaif, with a curly do and ethnic Indian wear for most of the song, looks effortlessly pretty.
Bharat, directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, is due to be released on 5 June.
