Kabir Khan’s much talked about film '83 will be going on the floors on 5 June at Glasgow in Scotland.
The film looks back at the journey of India’s surprise triumph at the 1983 Prudential World Cup of cricket.
Interestingly, the movie gets rolling in the same month when the World Cup had commenced back then.
The film stars Ranveer Singh in the role of the then India captain Kapil Dev. Interestingly, Chirag Patil and Mali Marshall will be playing the roles of their fathers, cricketers Sandeep Patil and Malcolm Marshall, respectively.
“While the team is already practising, the squad will begin shooting at a local cricket club in the Scottish port city for a week, followed by other popular locations like Dulwich college in London, Edinburgh Cricket Club, Nevill Ground at Royal Tunbridge Wells in Kent and the Oval cricket ground,” an official statement from the makers said.
'83 also stars Pankaj Tripathi, Hardy Sandhu, Jiiva, Ammy Virk, Tahir Raj Bhasin and Saqeeb Salim, among many others.
The makers added that Ranveer Singh recently met Kapil Dev and the latter is also expected to visit the sets.
“The team has been having marathon meetings every day and all the actors, who had been training regularly for two hours, have been putting in extra time before the shoot begins," the statement said.
Speaking about his excitement before the film goes on the floors, Kabir Khan said in an official statement, “Since it’s a real-life story, this film involves a lot of training and research. Now that it’s going on the floors, starting with the Glasgow schedule, everyone is excited to recreate a journey that made history, all thanks to our cricketing heroes of the ’83 team.”
'83 is scheduled to be released on 20 April 2020 in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
