Actor Anil Kapoor and filmmaker Shekhar Kapur look to be on the verge of a new exciting project. Kapoor shared a picture of himself with his Mr. India (1987) director, suggesting that the two will be collaborating on a new project.
"Feels like déjà vu! Shekhar Kapur & I are deep in discussion about something new and super exciting! We're hoping to create the same magic we did before with Mr. India...The cap adjustment was lucky then, and it might do the trick this time as well!," the actor teased on Twitter.

Incidentally, Shekhar Kapur had shared the same image, also hinting at a sequel to the iconic 1980s film. 'Discusssing the look for the next Mr India 2, or another movie together?', Kapur hinted cryptically.

While the rumours of a sequel to Mr India (1987) have been floating around for a long time, neither Anil Kapoor, his brother, producer Boney or Shekhar Kapur confirmed beginning work on the project. The death of the film's star, Sridevi, in February 2018, seemed to have put an end to hopes of a sequel.
Also, producer Anil Kapoor told the daily tabloid, Mumbai Mirror, this February, "We haven't cracked a story yet. I'm a part of several franchises, but I'm not making a sequel for the heck of it, ditto for Boney. Also, both Sridevi and Amrish ji (late actor Amrish Puri) are irreplaceable."
Even now, there is no confirmation on their collaboration. Kapur has been at the helm of several projects, which have either been cancelled or have been stuck in the pipeline for a while.
The director is currently among several roped in by the digital platform Hotstar to create original content. Kapur also has plans for a biopic on the empress Elisabeth of Austria, which he announced at the Macao International Film Festival in December 2018.
The filmmaker is also at the head of Endemol Shine India's project of releasing a series based on the Ibis trilogy of books by writer Amitav Ghosh.
Meanwhile, Anil Kapoor also has the Mohit Suri-directed Malang (2020) and Karan Johar's Takht (2020) on his schedule. The latter has not yet begun its main shoot schedule.
It remains to be seen if Kapoor and Kapur are onto a new project, and it really is the long awaited Mr. India sequel!
