Actor Rajinikanth on Wednesday, 15 May, returned home to Chennai, after successfully wrapping up the first schedule of his upcoming Tamil film, Darbar (2020), directed by AR Murugadoss.
Over the course of last month, Darbar was being shot across different locations in Mumbai. The film features Nayanthara as the leading lady opposite Rajinikanth.
“The first schedule has been completed as planned. The second schedule will once again resume in Mumbai from 29 May. Rajini sir has gone home for a short break and is expected to join the sets from the first week of June,” a source from the film’s unit said.
Darbar features Rajinikanth in the role of a cop. He returns to playing a police officer after 25 years. His last role as cop was 1992 film, Pandian.
Tipped to be an investigative thriller, the entire film will be shot in Mumbai. The film was originally supposed to be bankrolled by Sun Pictures, who backed out after the recent Sarkar (2018) controversy.
The latest update is that Lyca Productions, the makers of 2.0 (2018), have taken over the reins of the project and have said to have mounted the project on a lavish scale. This would be the third outing for Lyca Productions with Rajinikanth after Kaala (2018) and 2.0.
While Anirudh Ravichander will compose the music, Sreekar Prasad will take care of editing. Not long ago, popular cinematographer Santosh Sivan confirmed that he is officially a part of the project.
Sivan, in February, revealed that he was thrilled to be signed for Rajinikanth’s next film. He took to Twitter and wrote: “Finally, very excited to work with Rajini sir after Thalapathy."
