They say silence is a powerful tool in cinema. Chakri Toleti's Khamoshi trailer looks to build around this key plot element of the film featuring Prabhu Deva, Tamannaah Bhatia, Sanjay Suri and Bhumika Chawla. While it looks to offer a new approach to the usual slasher-thriller genre, it uses the same old gimmicks.
The trailer is almost a tell-all revelation of the film's plot. Tamannaah Bhatia plays a deaf and mute heiress who comes into a late aunt's fortune, but decides to give it away. Immediately, she runs into opposition by the other players, played by Sanjay Suri and Bhumika Chawla.
Prabhu Deva plays the evil killer who is driven by a personal motive of revenge to kill Bhatia's character and everyone else who occupies the estate.
The trailer's revelation of details practically leaves little to the imagination, apart from the manner in which the murders will occur. With its foreign locations and vast spacious castle grounds, jump cuts and shadow moves, the film does remind you of a Vikram Bhatt project. There is even a hint of that in the shot with Prabhu Deva in the car, where you briefly see a white-haired gentleman reminiscent of the director.
This is the second Hindi feature for Toleti, who had also directed the Sonakshi Sinha and Diljit Dosanjh-starrer, Welcome To New York (2018).
Khamoshi is set to release in theatres on 31 May.
