Sajid Nadiadwala joins '83 as co-producer

Producer Sajid Nadiadwala has come on board as co-producer for '83 (2020), the reel life story of India's first cricket World Cup victory. Nadiadwala joins Madhu Mantena, Vishnu Induri and Reliance Entertainment as co-producers on the project.

The Kabir Khan film highlights the unbelievable journey of the Indian cricket team, captained by Kapil Dev (played by Ranveer Singh), who won their first World Cup by defeating West Indies in the final on 25 June 1983.

Additionally, Nadiadwala and Mantena will also produce three more films over the next three years.

"All four scripts are excellent. As a producer, one has to commit to the content more than anything else. Coming on board for '83, as I saw that glorious moment on live television. There are certain projects that develop an aura around them and '83 is one of them," the prolific producer of the Baaghi and Housefull series shared.

"Sajid is one of the most valuable anchors a film can get. He has an astute understanding of content and business and is completely hands-on as a producer. We will immensely benefit from this partnership," said Mantena in a statement.
 
'83 (2020) which also stars Pankaj Tripathi, Ammy Virk, Saqib Saleem, among others, is a trilingual which is being shot in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. The sports film is due to be released on 10 April 2020.
