The fad for sequels is here to stay. The latest to join the bandwagon is Priyadarshan’s horror comedy Bhool Bhulaiyaa (2007). According to a report in the Mumbai Mirror newspaper, Bhushan Kumar, head honcho of T-Series, is gearing up to produce a sequel to the film.
Bhool Bhulaiyaa starred Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Shiney Ahuja, Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav and Ameesha Patel. However, the Mirror report says they won’t be a part of the sequel, which will be directed by Farhad Samji.
A source told the publication, “Bhushan Kumar has wanted to make part 2 of Bhool Bhulaiyaa for a while now and has cracked an idea with Farhad Samji, who will be writing and directing the film. It is in the development stage and will feature a fresh cast. Once the final script is locked, the team will kick off casting and other pre-production formalities."
Farhad Samji, one half of the writer-director duo Sajid-Farhad, was unavailable for comment. He is currently involved in the post-production work of Housefull 4, which is scheduled for release during Diwali later this year.
Bhool Bhulaiyaa was the official remake of the Malayalam hit Manichitratazhu (1993), which starred Mohanlal, Shobana, Suresh Gopi and others. The film was remade in Tamil as well as Chandramukhi (2005), with Rajinikanth in the lead.
