Punit Malhotra’s Student Of The Year 2 (2019) has managed to hold decently on its first Monday, 13 May. The Tiger Shroff-starrer earned Rs5.25 crore yesterday, as per collection figures shared by BoxOfficeIndia.com.
After opening at Rs11.75 crore on Friday, the film saw a jump on Saturday, earning Rs13.50 crore. However, instead of going further up on Sunday, Student Of The Year 2 saw a slight drop and was able to collect only Rs12.50 crore.
It seemed the film would go downwards from there owing to the negative reviews and word-of-mouth buzz. But the Monday figure has turned out to be higher than expected.
As per trade sources, Student Of The Year 2 has been made on a budget of around Rs50 crore. The grand total of the film currently stands at Rs43 crore. Hence, it needs to perform well in the rest of the week to become a safe bet for the producers.
Shroff's stardom was on display in his previous film Baaghi 2 (2018), which made Rs110.81 crore in its first week itself. Student Of The Year 2 is not expected to finish anywhere close to that number.
