For every film centred on nationalism and patriotism, an anthem song is a necessity. For Raj Kumar Gupta's India's Most Wanted, Amit Trivedi brings out a solemn, simple song that builds on the courage and single-mindedness of the men led by Arjun Kapoor's character.

'Vande Mataram' is sung by Papon and has backing vocals by Altamash Faridi.

The song is set up by the preceding dialogue by Kapoor, who warns his team members of the dangers of the mission. He says, "I would understand if any of you will want to step back." The reply is a resounding 'Jai Hind!'

This sets the tone for the composition by Amit Trivedi. The visuals of the team entering dangerous territory, followed by real shots of Indians saluting to the chorus of 'Vande Mataram', makes for an interesting visual element.

The song carries within it the seeds of a marching tune, with the percussion rhythm providing the foundation to Papon's emotive voice. The singer manages to bring in the soul that Amitabh Bhattacharya's lyrics demand.

The lyrics are wonderfully contrasted in their rhyme. However, the denouement into the chorus of Vande Mataram led by Altamash Faridi is a little staid.

The song has enough to build up emotions, and from the visuals might be played around the key moments of action and drama in the film, adding to the impetus.

India's Most Wanted is directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, and is set to be released in theatres on 24 May. Watch the song below and let us know if it rouses you to go and watch the film in theatres.
