The 10th edition of the Bagri Foundation London Indian Film Festival will open with Anubhav Sinha's cop drama Article 15 (2019), starring Ayushmann Khurrana. The film will have its world premiere on 20 June at Picturehouse Central in London.
Article 15, which also stars Isha Talwar, Sayani Gupta, Manoj Pahwa and Kumud Mishra, features Khurrana as a police officer posted in North India where he takes on a case of three missing girls.
The title refers to an important section of the Constitution, which endorses the "prohibition of discrimination on grounds of religion, race, caste, sex or place of birth".
Article 15 is due to be released in India on 28 June.
The festival will screen films from around India like Rima Das's Bulbul Can Sing, Jonathan Augustin's The Lift Boy (2019), Vasan Bala's Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota (2019), and Pravin Morchhale's Widow Of Silence.
Anand Patwardhan’s documentary Reason (Vivek) will be screened on 22 June. Ritesh Batra's Photograph (2019), starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Sanya Malhotra, will be the closing night film on 29 June at the BFI Southbank in London.
Actress Radhika Apte and filmmaker Anurag Kashyap are also expected to attend the festival on 23 and 28 June, respectively, for a special session and conversation.
British-Asian filmmaker Gurinder Chadha will be on hand to discuss her latest project, Blinded By The Light, about a young fan of Bruce Springsteen.
The festival will be held across several cities in the UK from 20 June to 8 July.
