Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu-starrer Badla was the lone notable Hindi release this Friday (8 March), but the film trade had its eyes on Hollywood film Captain Marvel. The latest Marvel film collected Rs13 crore nett on its opening day, as reported by Boxofficeindia.com.
Director Sujoy Ghosh’s Badla made a decent Rs5 crore nett on its opening day. Made at an estimated budget of Rs24 crore, the Red Chillies Entertainment and Azure Entertainment co-production has been released on 1,000 screens in India.
The crime thriller is an official remake of Spanish film Contratiempo (2016).

Captain Marvel has recorded the second highest opening for any Hollywood film in India. The record is held by another Marvel film, Avengers: Infinity War (2018), that had collected a whopping Rs31.23 crore nett on its first day. Avengers: Infinity War was released on 2,000 screens, whereas as Captain Marvel has been released on 1,900 screens (all languages) in India. Captain Marvel is distributed by Disney in India. Captain Marvel has surpassed Furious 7 (2015) that had an opening of Rs12.03 nett.
Captain Marvel has posted the third highest opening for any film in 2019 so far. Ranveer Singh and Ali Bhatt-starrer Gully Boy had made Rs18.50 crore nett on its opening day, while Indra Kumar’s Total Dhamaal had made Rs16.25 crore nett.
