Aijaz Khan's Hamid, which delayed its release from 1 March, will finally hit theatres on 15 March. The film, set in Kashmir, bowed out of its release date to honour the martyred Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans in the Pulwama attack on 14 February.
The film, starring Rasika Dugal, Vikas Kumar and Sumit Kaul, features Kashmiri boy Talha Arshad Reshi in a pivotal role. Actor Vikas Kumar plays a CRPF jawan in the drama.
Siddharth Anand Kumar, producer at Yoodlee Films, said in a statement, "We at Yoodlee Films stood in solidarity with the victims of the Pulwama attack and had decided to push the release date for a later time. Now with the film releasing on 15 March, we believe now is the time that perhaps the film will be better understood, and perhaps more relevant, with its narrative that calls for peace and closure."
Hamid explores the accidental friendship between the CRPF jawan and a young Kashmiri boy looking for his missing father.
Filmmaker Khan said of the film's message, "The nation was going through a state of grief and turmoil and we wanted to be one with the people of our country. Hamid is above all a film about peace, love and most importantly about healing each other. We hope that Hamid helps in spreading this very important message of love and redemption in these conflicted times."
Hamid had its world premiere at the 20th Mumbai Film Festival last October.
