Director Omung Kumar's film PM Narendra Modi, starring Vivek Anand Oberoi, will hit the screens on 5 April. Meanwhile, director Umesh Shukla is going to launch his web-series on India's prime minister Narendra Modi soon.
Titled Modi: Journey Of A Common Man, the web-series will be streamed on Eros International’s online video-on-demand service, Eros Now.
The producers have released the trailer of the web-series.
A web-series tends to give a detailed account of an individual’s life, including the pivotal chapters in Modi’s life in this case. Young Modi becoming a sage, his entry and rise in politics, his role in the 2002 Gujarat riots, and becoming prime minister in 2014 are some important chapters that the web-series will deal with.
Director Shukla has smartly cast a child artiste and two adults as Modi. Faisal Khan plays the boy Narendra while Ashish Sharma takes over from where Khan leaves off and senior actor Mahesh Thakur plays the veteran leader in the later years. Thakur seems to have grasped Modi’s body language well.
Unlike Vivek Oberoi as Modi who looks unconvincing, Shukla has wisely adopted the horses-for-courses policy.
Would PM Narendra Modi fall foul of the Election Commission's model code of conduct?
Devoid of unnecessary jingoism or sloganeering, the trailer for the web-series notably mentions Modi as an "accused" in the Gujarat riots of 2002.
We hear the voice of singer Sukhwinder Singh in the web-series too and the ‘Saugandh is desh ki’ line appears here as well.
The Eros Now web-series certainly looks more promising than the movie PM Narendra Modi.
Shukla has previously directed OMG: Oh My God! (2012) and 102 Not Out (2018).
