The ‘Ghar More Pardesiya’ song from Abhishek Varman’s Kalank is a grand affair with visuals that stay with you for long. The classical number is also impressive in its music and Shreya Ghoshal’s smooth vocals.
Kalank is the first film in which actress Alia Bhatt will share the screen with veteran actress Madhuri Dixit.
In the making of the song, Bhatt shared how nervous she was to share the screen with her. “I was very nervous to do this song. I have never trained in Kathak in my life. Madhuri ma’am was also going to be there. Luckily for me she was not dancing along with me because I don’t know what would have happened then,” she said.
Speaking about the song, Dixit said, “The whole relationship between me and Alia kind of gets established in that song. It’s shot in a very contemporary way, even though it’s a bhajan.”
The story takes place in the town of Hiramandi where Ram Navmi celebrations are going on. “She [Alia] comes to Hiramandi for the first time. There is this whole depiction of Ramayana that is happening through the street,” informed choreographer Remo D’Souza.
The song sees Varun Dhawan’s character Zafar being mesmerized by Bhatt's character. In a short duration, they have narrated the story of the Ramayana in the form of a street play.
