Sreenanda Shankar says Basu Paribaar set was like an acting school for her

Sreenanda Shankar, who made her debut cameo appearance in Srijit Mukherji’s Ek Je Chhilo Raja, will be playing an important role in Suman Ghosh’s upcoming family drama Basu Paribaar.

She will be sharing screen space with the legendary Soumitra Chatterjee and Aparna Sen. The film, inspired by James Joyce’s short story The Dead, also features Rituparna Sengupta, Jisshu Sengupta, Kaushik Sen, Saswata Chatterjee, Paran Bandopadhyay and Sudipta Chakraborty.

Shankar began shooting for the film before Mukherji’s courtroom drama and now she cannot contain her excitement when the film is about to hit the screens on 5 April. “This is my first film and it is a gift for me. I am thankful to Suman and this feeling will always be there. Honestly, nobody will ever replace that for me in my life,” said the newcomer in gratitude, while speaking at the film's trailer launch on 19 March.

Shankar recalled that she almost went speechless at the first script reading session. “I was very nervous before the shooting started. I was so baffled to watch everybody’s performance. But I must admit that everyone was extremely welcoming and gradually I could see that everyone was enjoying and laughing no matter what I said,” added Shankar.

“Initially, my humour became my shield, but then the entire unit eventually turned into a family,” said the dancer and actress as she felt extremely taken care of and she admitted that the entire unit was almost like an acting school for her.
