The trailer of prime minister Narendra Modi’s biopic, titled PM Narendra Modi, was launched last afternoon at a suburban multiplex in Mumbai.
Normally, film trailers are released online minutes after they have been screened at launch events. But the trailer for PM Narendra Modi failed to appear online until well past midnight.
When asked the reason for the delay in posting the trailer, the film's publicity team blamed 'technical reasons'.
Now, as it turns out, the trailer that has been released online misses a couple of shots that were there in the trailer screened at the afternoon launch event.
The shots featured the characters of Narendra Modi’s mother and his wife Jashodhaben.
When a young Modi (Vivek Anand Oberoi) shares his decision to become a sanyasi (monk), his mother (Zarina Wahab) slaps him while his wife (Barkha Bisht Sengupta) gives a disappointed look.
These shots are not there in the trailer released online, which probably explains the delay in posting it on YouTube. But there is no explanation for why the shots were removed, or who asked for their removal.
Produced by Sandeep Ssingh and Suresh Oberoi, PM Narendra Modi has been directed by Omung Kumar. The film will be released on 5 April, less than a week before voting for the first phase of the seven-phase general election begins.
