Filmmaker Indra Kumar, who is riding high on the recent success of his latest film, Total Dhamaal (2019), revealed that his next film, a sequel to the cult comedy Hera Pheri (2000) will go on the floors by the end of 2019. The long-delayed third instalment will reunite original stars, Akshay, Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal.
The director told the newspaper DNA, "I’m happy that the favourite trio is coming back together. We start the film towards the end of this year. It’s currently being scripted. I was completely cut off from that project for the last three months because I was busy with Total Dhamaal."
"It will definitely be bigger and better and involve heavy VFX. I’m expecting people to enjoy the film as much,” he added.
The comedy was previously supposed to be directed by actor-writer-filmmaker Neeraj Vora who died at 54 in December 2017 after a being in a coma for a year. Vora had directed the sequel Phir Hera Pheri (2006) and was helming the third feature in the series when he was hospitalised.
Akshay, Suniel, and Paresh were going to be replaced by Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham and Nana Patekar for the third film. Kumar came on board last year for the project being produced by Feroz Nadiadwala .
Hera Pheri is due to be released in 2020.
